People with COVID-19 cases filled about 102 to 105 local hospital beds from Feb. 5 to Feb. 11, the weekly update of a federal report indicates.

That represents a decline of at least 53 from the previous seven-day period, when the numbers of COVID cases at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center and Lovelace Regional Hospital totaled between 158 and 161, according to data from the U.S. Health and Human Services Department.

Exact numbers cannot be determined because hospitals are allowed to use the figure -999,999 to report numbers between one and four to protect against possible identification of individual patients.

The data released Sunday night shows that total adult beds used by COVID patients totaled 77, 13 at Lovelace and 64 ENMMC. Total Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds used for COVID patients was between 25 and 28, with 24 reported at ENMMC and between one and four at Lovelace.

There were no pediatric cases at either ENMMC or Lovelace for that period.
