Eastern New Mexico Medical Center would like to recognize and congratulate three of their recent Employees of the Month: Noemi Noriega for July 2020, Apryl Kirkham for August 2020 and Rhonda Hutchins for September 2020, according to a press release from the hospital. Below is more information provided by ENMMC on each employee honored, along with the comments provided by their nomination process.

July 2020

Congratulations to Noemi Noriega, RN who was named July 2020 Employee of the Month for ENMMC.

Noriega helps her fellow employees often. She is always willing to pick up shifts to help her team and never complains. She floats to other areas and helps out wherever she can. Noriega has taken on a leadership role (as charge nurse) and is truly a servant leader.

Her patients continuously compliment her and the care she provides for them. This employee really cares about her patients, department, team and hospital. She is an excellent role model to newer nurses and has become such a strong and passionate Labor and Delivery nurse.

August 2020

Congratulations to Apryl Kirkham who was named August 2020 Employee of the Month for ENMMC.

Kirkham has exemplified what it means to truly embrace her role as an ENMMC nurse. She is a new nurse that has gained the respect and trust of first and foremost her patients, peers and physicians. Every day, she is constantly working to help others in her own department as well as other departments. Kirkham works professionally and collaboratively with all she encounters. She has a growth mindset and focuses on the needs of not only her department but the needs of others as well.

She is always willing to learn and accept any challenge that comes her way with a sense of pride and ownership. Kirkham has inspired her patients with her genuine care and concern for them, she is a calm in their storm. She puts her patients at ease with a gentle touch or a kind word even when the stress of their condition in that moment is challenging her nursing skill.

Kirkham holds herself accountable to her patients, peers and physicians and doesn’t leave anything unfinished. She is humble and will ask questions when necessary, keeping her patients’ safety at the forefront of her mind. Kirkham is not prideful in her approach with anyone and has this way of putting everyone at ease.

“In speaking with Apryl (Kirkham) one day she told me, “I have learned to always be the best in the room.” She is a tremendous asset to the ENMMC Team.”

September 2020

Congratulations to Rhonda Hutchins, RN who was named September 2020 Employee of the Month for ENMMC.

As we continue to live in this uncertain time, it is difficult to determine who should be honored as the Employee of the Month. Everyone is working above and beyond to take care of our patients and to help each other. As I consider this, Rhonda Hutchins stands out for me. She is cheerful and supports the work of every department in the hospital.

As the COVID response has broadened, she has been asked to help out in the ICU and the Emergency Department. She has worked shifts in both areas. She is willing to help even if it means that her work in the Quality Department must be delayed. She believes that our patients come first. Hutchins also believes that she can support the team by helping wherever she is asked to do so. She does not complain. She always smiles and is an asset to the Quality Department and the ENMMC Family.
