In Memory of Jim Wilson

Santiago (aka James, Jim) Ruiz Wilson, of Roswell, New Mexico, passed away February 25, 2021 at Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Jim was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico on July 25, 1928 to Concepcion and Dean Frank Wilson.

He served his country in the Army’s 45th Infantry Division receiving the Korean Service Medal W/1 Bronze Svc Star and the United Nations Service Medal

He spent his entire life being a beacon of love, light and great humor to everyone he knew. Whether he was being called Jim, Daddy or Grandpa, he was always ready with a song, dance or laugh.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Fermina “Nina” T. Wilson; his youngest daughter, Valerie Charmaine Wilson Seely; sisters, Lorenza “Lencha” and Cecilia; brothers Theodore & Rafael; and son-in-law W. “Butch” Buggs

He is survived by daughter, Kathy Jio of Las Cruses, NM; daughter, Dorrie L. Faubus-McCarty, and husband Patrick “Pat” McCarty; Brother, Rudy A. Wilson; his grandchildren, James “JJ” N. Jio and wife Tonya, Ranceford “RJ” David Jio and LeaEllen, Anthony “TJ” R. Jio and wife Michelle, Jackie Snyder and husband Mark, Jamie Dean Ramage and husband Kegan, Newman Lee Seeley and Colette; Melissa McCarty, Kristi McCarty, Amy Anderson; his great-grandchildren, Monica A. Jio Haulman and husband Jared, Mia Jio, Mariposa Jio, Ciera Nina Jio, Maya Jio and Oliva Jio; his great-great grandchildren, Lilleigh Haulman, “Little” Valerie Seely and many nieces and nephews.

The family is very grateful for the love and support of so many family and friends, including, Dennis and Diane Giever of Las Cruces; NM, Sarah Stegall of Las Cruces, NM; Marsha and Floyd Lard of Roswell, NM; Juan Guerra, Julia Ortiz and all of the Hernandez Family.

A formal service is not planned, but the family hopes everyone who knew him will keep his spirit alive by continuing to give love and happiness to one another.

The VA was an enormous help to Jim in the final years of his life. Those who wish to do so can donate in his memory to help other veterans.
