7ROSS HARDEN HARE passed away at the age of 87 on Wednesday, December 09, 2020, in Roswell, New Mexico. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Ross’s family at www.andersonbethany.com.

Born February 12, 1933, to James and Florence Hare. He grew up in Roswell with his two brothers and sister. Ross enjoyed boxing and was coached a while by the late New Mexico Boxing Hall of Famer Willie Hall Sr. Ross went on to fight in some Golden Glove matches in the Navy.

Ross enlisted in the United States Navy on May 4, 1951, and was honorably discharged on May 5, 1955, after serving in the Korean war. After returning home, he married Anna J. McCall and had six children: five sons and one daughter. Ross spent his life living and working in Wyoming and New Mexico. He worked as a cowboy, breaking and training quarter horses and working at local ranches. Ross was also skilled at showing and reining horses and even competed in Western Pleasure events at horse shows. He also worked at various cattle feed yards and as a forklift driver for General Dynamics while building the missile silos.

In 1992, Ross married Louise Lewis. They are members of Church on the Move and the Chavez County Sheriff’s Posse.

Ross is preceded in death by his parents, James, and Florence Hare; brothers: Jim Hare and Dogie Hare; sister, Kay Hare Moloski; sons: Jon Ray Hare and Jim Tom Hare; daughter, Michel “Mike” Randle; granddaughter, Jesi Hare; and son-in-law, Johnny Randle.

Surviving Ross are his wife, Louise; sons: Corky and wife Dorothy Hare of Roswell, Joe Hare of Texas, and Jay Hare of Lovington; his first wife and friend, Anna Brown; stepchildren: Diana Evans and husband Ed, Ron Downey, Kim Mathews and husband Mike; sister-in-law, Mary Hare; brother-in-law, Paul Moleski; grandchildren: Tye, Brent, Tray, Myles, Jason, and Kylee Hare; Jeremy Randle Hare, Renee Brock, Jennifer Waltrip, Brianne Mangalagari, Harlee Bell, Terry Chandler II, Rachel Fines, Coy Downey, Jesse (J.P.) Downey, Kila Williams, Ravae Leonard; great-grandchildren: Bryleigh, Quint, Madelyn and Hagen Hare, Eddie and Katelynn Sills, Eric Brock, Mallory Waltrip, Sunny VanOrden, Alani Magill, Elijah Leonard, Cooper Williams, Kambree and Xaylee Chandler; Callan and Knox Fines, Weslyn and Kylee Frye; Joie Downey, Riggin, Riley, Raelynn and Casey Downey; great-great-grandchildren: Mickel and Cloe Sills; very special friends: Mike and Betty Randle; Joe, Jennifer, Caleb and Cohdy Seely; as well as his special neighbors: Albert and Anna Sanchez, and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Gonzales.

A Memorial Potluck will be held at the Chaves County Sheriff’s Posse, 1403 E. Poe, Roswell, New Mexico, on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at 11:00 AM.

Ross’s tribute was written in his honor by his family.
