The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a local man identified as a person of interest in connection with a recent homicide.

Johnny Ray Sanchez, 30, of Roswell, is being sought as a person of interest in the fatal shooting of Guilermo Aguilar, 39, of Roswell, Undersheriff Charles Yslas said Tuesday.

Sanchez has not been named a suspect, “but it is critical that we do locate and contact him,” Yslas said. He added that Sanchez is believed to be armed and dangerous.

People with information related to the whereabouts of Sanchez are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 575-624-6500, or Chaves County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-594-8477.

Yslas said that Sanchez is known to frequent the area of south Roswell known as “the base,” along with other areas around the city.
