The 911 emergency phone lines for the Pecos Valley Communications Center were fully operational Wednesday afternoon after being down earlier in the day.

In a press release, the city announced Wednesday morning that 911 phone lines at the center were not working and that the phone company was working to address the issue. As a result, 911 calls in Chaves County and the city were temporarily rerouted to nearby Eddy County.

By 1:30 p.m. though, all 911 phone lines in the Communications Center were once again operational.

Todd Wildermuth, public information officer for the Roswell Police Department, said later in the day that the phone vendor said the outage was caused by a break in the circuits and that the circuits had to be reset. He added that the vendor indicated the break might have been weather-related.
