Monday is National Vietnam War Veterans Day and local American Legion posts will commemorate the day with a ceremony.

Members of American legion Post No. 28 and Norman E. Harpole Post No. 61 will present the ceremony at 1 p.m. at Post 28, 1620 N. Montana Ave. All events will take place outside due to public health orders. Refreshments will be available.

The names of the 22 Chaves County men who died in Vietnam will be read and some of their family members are expected to be present, Louis Mestas of Post 28 said.

Surviving Vietnam veterans will also be honored at the ceremony, and Taps will be played.
