The City of Roswell Solid Waste Department will offer citizens convenience stations featuring large roll-off trash containers to collect trash items each weekend in April.

A free-to-use convenience station will be set up at a different location each weekend.

The multiple roll-offs at each site will be available on the respective Saturday beginning at 7 a.m. until about 6 a.m. the following Monday. Citizens bringing items to the convenience stations should be prepared to deposit the items into the roll-offs themselves. City staff will not be working the sites.

The dates and sites for the trash convenience stations are:

• April 3-4: Wool Bowl parking lot, 1800 N. Grand Ave.

• April 10-11: Old airport runway across from Cielo Grande Recreation Area, 1600 block W. College Boulevard

• April 17-18: Stiles Field parking lot, 800 S. Wyoming Ave.

• April 24-25: Elks Pool parking lot, 400 E. Poe St.

Certain items are not acceptable at the convenience stations and should instead be brought directly to the landfill at 3006 W. Brasher Road. The items not acceptable at the convenience stations are commercial construction debris, household hazardous waste (paint, motor oil, pool chemicals, etc.), remodeling debris (including siding and roof shingles), room-size carpets, tires, batteries, propane tanks and fluorescent bulbs.

Refrigerators and freezers are acceptable at the convenience stations only if the doors have been removed and they are properly tagged to certify refrigerants have been removed.

City of Roswell residents are reminded they can bring one pickup truckload of trash — no appliances — to the landfill each month for free. The resident must bring his or her water bill when bringing trash to the landfill for free drop-off.
