RISD staff recipients of association’s excellence awards

The New Mexico School Boards Association announced Thursday recipients of the 2021 Excellence in Student Achievement Awards.

The awards, sponsored by NMSBA, are presented to individuals selected by local boards of education throughout New Mexico who have played an important role in improving student achievement in their local school district.

Fifty-eight school boards participated in this year’s program and 219 award recipients were selected.

Those from Roswell Independent School District receiving the award are Food Service Director Kimberly Meeks and RISD cafeteria workers; Brent Clay, social worker at Mountain View Middle School; Shelley Bruns, director of special services; Corina Avina, bilingual second-grade teacher at Pecos Elementary School; RISD custodians; and Superintendent Mike Gottlieb.
