Sgt. Grace Fresquez of the Roswell Police Department holds bags of medications dropped off Saturday at the West Second Street police station during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The local effort to collect unused and expired medication ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with six boxes filled within about two hours. The RPD has participated in the national effort since 2011. The twice annual Drug Take Back Days organized by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency are intended to keep drugs from pets, children or others who should not be taking them. The next event is expected to occur in the fall. (Lisa Dunlap Photo)
