The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office began looking Thursday for a missing man in south Roswell.

Undersheriff Charles Yslas said Thursday afternoon that a missing person’s report had been completed for Rafael Campuzano, 37, and personnel from the Sheriff’s Office, since 9 a.m. Thursday, had been searching for him. Yslas added that Campuzano has medical issues and there is concern for his well being.

Campuzano is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 170 pounds, he said. A medical helicopter was deployed to assist with the search and Chaves County Search and Rescue was also notified. The U.S. Border Patrol sent a tracking dog and some of their recruits from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia to aid in the search.

Yslas said Campuzano had last been seen around midnight when he told his family that he wanted to go out to the desert. Campuzano’s red Toyota extended cab pickup truck was later found unattended on Perimeter Road.

People with information about Campuzano or his whereabouts should contact the Sheriff’s Office at 575-624-6500.
