Police look for person of interest in fatal stabbing

Dexter man dies from injuries

The public’s assistance is sought in providing information to help local police locate a person of interest in connection with a Tuesday stabbing homicide in central Roswell.

Roswell Police Department detectives are trying to locate John Eric Lerma, 29, of Roswell.

They are seeking Lerma as part of the investigation into the death of 20-year-old Mario Zion Olivas Jr., who was from Dexter but was staying in Roswell.

Olivas was part of an altercation involving multiple people that occurred in the driveway of a residence in the 200 block of West Mathews Street shortly before 8:30 a.m., according to a press release issued Tuesday by RPD. Olivas was stabbed and later died at a hospital.

Lerma is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 185 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
