No new local COVID-19 cases reported Tuesday

No new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Chaves County Tuesday.

A total of 155 new cases in 23 counties were reported in the New Mexico Department of Health’s daily update. Bernalillo County had 44, followed by 30 in San Juan County, 15 in Santa Fe County and 13 in Sandoval County. The remaining counties reported seven or fewer cases.

The state’s total number of cases is 201,336 including 8,981 in Chaves County.

Two deaths related to COVID-19 were reported in the state Tuesday, both women in their 40s, one from Bernalillo County and the other from Doña Ana County. Both had been hospitalized and had underlying health conditions.

The total number of deaths in the state is 4,118 including 171 in Chaves County.

As of Tuesday, 150 people were hospitalized for COVID-19 in the state.

Also as of Tuesday, 53% of New Mexicans age 16 or older were fully vaccinated and 63% have received at least one dose. In Chaves County, 34% of those age 16 or older are fully vaccinated and 39% have received at least one dose.

Chaves County is in the Yellow Level of the state’s COVID-19 risk assessment system. The Red to Green map will be updated Wednesday with a goal of 45% of county populations fully vaccinated.
