Carl and Maxine Dennis take delivery Saturday afternoon of the first of 30 benches made from recycled plastic bottle caps intended for the city of Roswell and various entities in Chaves County. The delivery took place in the parking lot of Southwest Printers on North Pennsylvania Avenue. Entities receiving benches include the Hagerman Baptist Church that the Dennis family is associated with. Jim Boyles and Robert Boyles of Roswell picked the benches up from Greentree Plastics in Illinois. The local recycling program began in April 2019 as a school program to help kids put their math skills to practical use, but many different community organizations became involved. Bottle-cap collecting continues and volunteers said they expect the project to be an ongoing one. (Lisa Dunlap Photo)
