MARIA DE SOCORRO VARGAS MEDRANO, 89, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, in Lubbock, Texas. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Socorro’s family at www.andersonbethany.com.

SERVICES: There will be a Viewing for Socorro at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.

On June 29, 1931, Socorro was born to Anacleto and Francisca Medrano in Presidio, Texas. Shortly after, the family moved to Hagerman, New Mexico, where she was raised most of her life, until she moved to Roswell and made it her home. Socorro liked attending service and church functions at the Iglesia de Dios. She loved the outdoors, especially sitting outside doing yard work and keeping up with her rose bushes or cleaning her car. Socorro enjoyed breakfast time with her friends at IHOP. Above all things, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her the most joy, and she loved every one of them. Socorro was dearly loved and will forever remain in the hearts of her treasured family and friends.

SURVIVORS: Those left to cherish Socorro’s memory are her son, Orlando and wife Sonia Vargas; grandchildren: Miguel Vargas, Andres Vargas, and Leticia Vargas; great-grandchildren: Aubryanna Vargas, Orlando Vargas Jr, Lorenzo Vargas, Andres Vargas Jr, Samuel Diaz De Leon, Maria Franco and husband Guadalupe of Loving NM, Manuel Moreno of Hagerman NM, Eloisa Perez of Hagerman NM, Sulema Ornelas and husband Fermin of Hagerman NM; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

PRECEDED: Preceding Socorro in death are her parents, Anacleto and Francisca Medrano; brothers: Simon Medrano and Jesus Medrano; her sisters: Alicia Escaldon and Aurora Gomez.
