The execution of a search warrant by Roswell police Friday morning prompted Roswell High School to briefly be placed on lockdown.

The school went into lockdown at 10:27 a.m. while police carried out a search warrant at a nearby location as part of an ongoing investigation, said Todd Wildermuth, public information officer with the Roswell Police Department. The lockdown was lifted at 10:42 a.m.

No specifics were released about the investigation or the location where the warrant was executed.

Wildermuth said law enforcement considers a range of factors about a specific operation when deciding whether to place a school on lockdown.

“There is not an absolute answer that says it happens every time, but it is a common precaution measure,” he added.
