The Man, The Myth, the Legend

Men wanted to be him and women wanted to be with him. An authentic cowboy most comfortable in some good ol’ starched jeans, a well-fitted hat, spurs on his boots, and sitting snug in a saddle. Most would agree that his presence was larger than life, so it shook us to the core when he was taken from us unexpectedly by the COVID virus and other complications on February 8, 2021.

Lonnie was a dedicated, loving, and loyal son, brother, father and friend to many. While his parting was a sad day for us all, especially his two surviving daughters – Lydia Lee and D’Anna O’Mera, we rejoice in knowing he was greeted at the pearly gates by his lord and Savior, his mother – Noemi Shelton, and his two deceased sons Brion and Zackary Lee.

Foreseeing the day he would leave us, he had this to say, “Now y’all don’t be crying when I’m gone. I lived a good life. If you want, you can get together to tell a few stories and have a good laugh, but I don’t want a bunch of tears…ya hear.” So in honor of his wishes we invite anyone who knew our dad to join us for a graveside service this Friday, May 28th at 10:00 a.m. and a celebration of this cowboy’s amazing life will immediately follow at his home 1701 E. Alameda. His services are being arranged through Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home.
