Pecos Elementary School fifth-grader Lupe Bedolla portrays President George Washington as other students listen during the Wax Museum event Friday morning at the school, 600 E. Hobbs Street. Fifth-graders in Penny Rodriquez’s class chose historical figures to research and portray and created costumes and props at home. Because of the pandemic, the event was conducted in the pick-up and drop-off area outside the school, where parents could drive through while watching a video of the students’ presentations on mobile devices. Other students who participated were Sophia Aguilar as Betsy Ross; Ezequiel Barrientos as Alexander Graham-Bell; Emma Gallegos as Amelia Earhart; Anthony Gamez as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; Robert Garcia as President Abraham Lincoln; Addison Gonzalez as astronaut Ellen Ochoa; Valeria Hernandez as Rosa Parks; Angela Juarez as Eleanor Roosevelt; Aliyah Lopez as Marie Curie; Marely Meza Martinez as Helen Keller; Martin Prudencio as Albert Einstein; Jesus Ramos, Jr. as Cesar Chavez; and Nathanial Vaughn as President John F. Kennedy. (Juno Ogle Photo)
