Barring bad weather, outdoor ceremonies for three of Roswell Independent School District’s graduations are planned, and with the county reaching a less stringent level of COVID-19 restrictions Wednesday, the capacity for family and friends to attend has increased.

“If the rain holds off, we’re going to be outside at the Wool Bowl,” RISD Superintendent Mike Gottlieb said Wednesday.

The chance of rain in Roswell for Thursday and Friday is about 30% each day, with Saturday forecast to be sunny and hot, according to the National Weather Service.

Early College High School will be the first to confer degrees with ceremonies scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wool Bowl. The alternative indoor site will be at the Goddard High School gym.

University High School will have its ceremony at 2 p.m. at Pueblo Auditorium, 300 N. Kentucky.

With Chaves County at the Turquoise Level, capacity levels for large outdoor venues has increased from 50% to 75%. For the Wool Bowl’s west stadium seating used for graduation, that equals 2,886 people, Gottlieb said.
