Jack Jernigan, 97, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021, in Roswell, New Mexico. Please take a moment and share a fond memory or kind expression of sympathy for Jack’s family at www.andersonbethany.com.

SERVICES: A Funeral Service for Jack will be at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.

On December 27, 1923, Jack was born to Frank and Mabel Jernigan in Portales, New Mexico. He worked in the construction industry his entire adult life. Jack was a construction superintendent on numerous schools, churches, and large commercial buildings all over Eastern New Mexico. One project he was especially proud of was the 1st United Methodist Church in Roswell. Later, Jack became co-owner of Vantage Engineering & Construction.

He always had a strong faith in God. Jack was a wonderful husband and Dad. In his younger years he loved to ride his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. Jack took many road trips on his bike with family and friends. He worked hard and provided well for his family. Jack was a World War 2 veteran and served in Panama as a medic at a burn center. He was much loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

SURVIVORS: Those left to cherish Jack’s memory are his children: Bette Bo Woods, Jeanene Willis and husband Frank; sister, Viola Sustaita; grandchildren: Tom Woods, Wesley Willis, Josh Willis, and Wendy Lorenzen; as well as her great-grandchildren: Ashley Woods, Matthew Woods, Stacey Woods, Katelyn Woods, Alicia Woods, Jeremiah Woods, Isaiah Lorenzen, Avannah Lorenzen, Phoebe Lorenzen, Mabel Lorenzen, Roman Lorenzen, Michael Robinson, Madalene Robinson, Ryleigh Robinson, and Jayce Willis.

PRECEDED: Jack is preceded in death by his wife Madalene; siblings: Allen Jernigan, Aline Lee, Edward Jernigan, Wilbert Jernigan and Paul Jernigan; and parents: Frank and Mabel Jernigan.

Jack’s tribute was written in his honor by his family.
