No new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday in Chaves County

Only 79 new cases of COVID-19 and one death were reported by the New Mexico Department of Health in its daily update Tuesday.

No new cases were reported in Chaves County. Bernalillo County reported 27 and Doña Ana County reported 11. Fourteen counties and the Otero County Processing Center reported fewer than 10 cases each.

There have been 203,747 total cases in the state including 9,035 in Chaves County.

The one death reported Tuesday was a woman in her 70s from Bernalillo County. She had been hospitalized.

The total number of deaths in the state is 4,287 including 169 in Chaves County.

In the overall vaccination rate in New Mexico, 56.9% of the population age 16 or older have completed a vaccination series, while 66.4% have received at least one dose. In Chaves County, 36.3% have completed a vaccination series while 41.5% have received at least one dose.

Among those age 12 to 15 in the state, 4.3% have now completed the vaccination series with 22.2% receiving at least one dose.

Chaves County, along with all other New Mexico counties, is in the Turquoise Level of the state’s COVID-19 risk assessment system, and will stay there until 60% of New Mexicans are fully vaccinated. At that point, the state will graduate from the color-coded risk system and open fully from COVID-related restrictions.
