Heat advisory issued for Chaves County

Chaves County and southeast New Mexico are under a heat advisory for temperatures that could reach as high as 106 degrees Fahrenheit in the Roswell area, according to the National Weather Service.

The advisory for the Roswell area is in effect until 6 p.m.

The Weather Service recommends that people stay inside in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, drink plenty of fluids and check on relatives and neighbors.

Hot temperatures of 100 degrees or more are forecasted until at least Tuesday.
