Letter: Camp Invention’s return to Roswell a big success

Camp Invention, a program of the National Inventors Hall of Fame, was a huge success this year! With over 1,400 camps in the United States, it was my pleasure to direct my 14th Camp Invention in Roswell from June 7-11. I had the privilege of working with eight certified instructors who taught the four modules at this year’s “Recharge” camp: Open Mic, Duck Chuck, SolarBot and Road Rally. There were also two assistant directors, 12 leadership Interns (high school and college students), 10 leaders in training (students entering 7th-9th grade), and eight parent volunteers.

The Camp Invention staff is grateful to the First Baptist Church at 500 N. Pennsylvania for hosting us from June 7-11. Camp Invention was the largest ever in Roswell with 142 elementary students who were entering grades kindergarten to 6th grade. Many local businesses, organizations and individuals donated money (over $10,000), which helped over half the students in financial need attend camp at discounted rates. A huge thank you to everyone that helped with this year’s Camp Invention. Next year’s camp is tentatively scheduled to run from June 6-10, 2022.
