A man wanted for allegedly shooting a woman to death in Roswell over the weekend was apprehended in Artesia Tuesday.

Christopher Nathan Beltran, 25, of Roswell, was found outside an apartment on Tuesday just before 1 p.m., according to a press release from the Roswell Police Department. Beltran’s arrest was carried out by the RPD in collaboration with the Artesia Police Department, Eddy County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State Police.

The press release states Beltran was booked into the Chaves County Detention Center and is being held without bond pending an arraignment hearing.

Beltran is charged with first-degree murder in Saturday night’s fatal shooting of 34-year-old Domonique Gonzales of Roswell outside a 400 block of East Forest Street apartment. Court records also state he faces one count each of tampering with evidence and receipt, transportation or possession of a firearm or destructive device by a felon in connection with the shooting.

According to court records, Gonzales was shot once outside her apartment Saturday evening and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator.
