Elizabeth Cortez, 88 yrs old of Roswell NM, passed on peacefully June 30, 2020 of natural causes. Elizabeth was preceded in passing, by her husband US Army Ret. Major Alvino Cortez 82 yrs and oldest son US Army Ret. Major Chris Cortez 65 yrs.

Surviving children are Steve Cortez, Liz Cortez, adopted daughter Lina Cortez and daughter-in-law Kathy Cortez. There are 6 grandchildren, Ryan Cortez, Christopher R. Cortez, Sageco Jewett, Chantal Clement, Jadyden Cortez and Robert Cortez. A granddaughter-in-law Jessica Cortez and a former granddaughter-in-law Kathryn Quiett and 2 great granddaughters Sofia Cortez and Leo Clement.

The parents of Elizabeth are Edward and Grace Sloan of Texas. Elizabeth started life on a farm in Missouri and grew up in Virginia. At the age of 16 she joined the Civil Air Patrol and few solo in an Areonca Champion airplane. She has a High School diploma and some College Credits in Interior Design. Her Professional experience was with Custom Environments Interior Design Studio, West Los Angeles, California 198-1979. Also, in American Samoa, Elizabeth was the Director for the Arts in Education Program, writing Grants funded by the National Endowment of the Arts 1986-1992. Her most notable quote, “Stay home!”
