Nancy Lee Shafer, age 73, passed away from natural causes on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Nancy’s family at www.andersonbethany.com.

Nancy was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico, on January 16, 1948, to Ira Ernest Shafer and Laura Elizabeth Shafer. She worked as a nurse for over twenty years in the community of Roswell, New Mexico. Nancy was an avid animal lover and had a passion for rescuing and caring for homeless animals. Her favorite leisure activities included reading any good horror novel and spending time in the mountains. Nancy was proud to be a New Mexican native and always asked for the hottest chile on her enchiladas.

Those left to cherish Nancy’s memory are her only child, Elizabeth Rachel Shafer (Renee Adkins) of Roswell, NM; a brother; John Shafer of Florida; as well as her close friends: Blanca Murillo, Danielle Weller and Johnny Gallegos.

Preceding Nancy in death are her parents and many animals she rescued and cared for throughout her life.

Nancy’s wish was to be cremated and have her remains placed in the mountains.
