Four new local cases of COVID-19 reported Friday

The New Mexico Department of Health reported 188 new cases of COVID-19 and seven deaths related to the disease in the state Friday.

The new cases include four in Chaves County, 45 in Bernalillo County, 26 at the Torrance County Detention Facility, 18 in Doña Ana County, 14 in Sandoval County, 13 in Eddy County and 10 in Santa Fe County. Sixteen other counties and the Otero County Processing Center each reported fewer than 10 cases.

The total number of cases is now 207,189 in the state and 9,107 in Chaves County.

The deaths were a man in his 40s and a man in his 70s from Bernalillo County; a man and a woman both in their 80s from Doña Ana County; a man in his 30s and a woman in her 70s from Cibola County; and a woman in her 80s from Taos County.

Four had been hospitalized and two had underlying health conditions.

The state has now had 4,379 deaths related to COVID-19 including 172 in Chaves County.

As of Friday, 91 people were hospitalized for COVID-19 in the state.

According to the NMDOH vaccine dashboard, 63.9% of New Mexicans age 18 or older have completed a vaccine series and 71.9% have had at least one dose.
