Martha Juanita Hernandez was born in Monahans, Texas on June 25, 1961 to Nemecio and Rita Morales. She went to her forever home in Heaven on July 13, 2021. Those close to her knew her as Jeanna, but her favorite names were wife, mother, and sister. Jeanna loved Jesus with her whole heart and life, and was an active member of Church on the Move.

She earned her Master’s degree from Grand Canyon University, and was a lifelong educator. She retired from RISD in 2018 then taught one year at Gateway Christian School. She loved her students, and had a God given gift to help young people. She was also the resident baked goods provider wherever she worked. Teachers’ break rooms everywhere reaped the benefits of Jeanna’s incredible baking skills.

She enjoyed cooking, reading, being on the beach, music, dancing, and really enjoyed recording her Facebook cooking tutorials. Her passion, though, was undoubtedly spending time with her family. She is already missed, could never be replaced, and has left a mark on our lives that will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her parents Nemecio and Rita Morales of Roswell, NM, her husband and the absolute love of her life Jose “Pepe” Hernandez of Roswell, NM, daughter and son in law Monica and Shawn Kelly of Roswell, NM, daughter Mirey Hernandez of Roswell, NM, sister and brother in law Sally and Brent Green of Roswell, NM, brother and sister in law Donnie and Belinda Morales of Glendale, AZ, brother and sister in law Jerry and Christy Morales of Hobbs, NM, brother George Morales of Phoenix, AZ. She had 3 grandchildren-the pride and joy of her life Aydan Kelly of Roswell, NM, Reshea and her husband Nahum Lozano of Keller, TX, Johnathan Kelly of Artesia, NM, five great grandkids, and numerous nieces and nephews. Two of them were like grandchildren to her-Mattie and Conner Green.

Services for Jeanna will be Monday, July 19 at 2:00 pm at Church on the Move. Pallbearers are Donnie Morales, David Morales, Daniel Morales, Jerry Morales, George Morales, and Mark Green.
