A Las Cruces man is dead following a multiple vehicle accident Tuesday night on Interstate 10 east of Deming, New Mexico.

The New Mexico State Police indicated in a Wednesday afternoon news release that the crash occurred at about 10:58 p.m. Tuesday near milepost 105 on I-10.

The initial investigation found that a 2006 sport utility vehicle traveling west on the interstate had a tire blowout and stopped in the right lane of travel. It was then struck by a 2018 Freightliner commercial truck, also traveling westbound.

After the crash, the truck overturned onto its side in the roadway and was struck by two other commercial trucks heading west.

The driver of the Freightliner, Daniel Quintana, 37, of Las Cruces sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator, the news release stated.
