Edna “LaVonne” Sanders passed away on the morning of June 27, 2021, with her children by her side.

She was born to Archibald Thornton and Edna Broadwell in Deming, New Mexico on March 6, 1933. LaVonne was 88 years old at the time of her passing and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B Sanders.

She is survived by her daughter Felicia Sanders (Maryann Ballotta), her son Burke Sanders, her daughter in law, Alana and grandson, Cole. LaVonne worked in the oil and gas industry up until her daughter was 2 years old and then she became a stay-at-home mom. As her children grew up, she was always in the stands cheering them on in whatever sport they were playing as she was their biggest fan. There was not a High School, College or Summer tournament that was ever to far for her to fly or drive, so she could sit in the stands and cheer her kids on.

On Tuesday’s and Sunday’s, she was bowling with friends or her husband and could also be found playing couples bridge on the weekends. She was an avid lover of any type of competitive sport, and she LOVED the casino, but her biggest love was her family. She and her husband Bob, unselfishly left Roswell in their latter years to live close to their kids in Texas, more importantly, so they could watch their only grandson grow up.

Services are still pending as she will be placed in the General McBride Roswell Veterans Cemetery at South Park with her husband.
