Invaders set to play for Pecos League title

The Roswell Invaders defeated the Garden City Wind 7-3 Saturday night in the third and deciding game of the teams’ Pecos League playoff series in Garden City, Kansas.

The series win put the Invaders in the season’s final three-game series — playing for the Pecos League championship versus the Tucson Saguaros, beginning Tuesday, Aug. 17 in Tucson. For game times and other details, check the team’s schedule at roswellinvaders.com.

In the series against the Wind, the Invaders took game one Thursday 4-3, then lost the second game of the series 4-1 on Friday, setting up the deciding third game Saturday night.

Knowing that the victory vaulted the Roswell team into the championship series, player/manager Lance Myers stated, “and we aren’t done (yet),” according to a press release from the Invaders.

Of the series against the Wind, he said, “Heck of a series, heck of a team, these guys (just) don’t quit.”

After Saturday night’s win, the Invaders headed back to Roswell to rest up Sunday before heading out again on Monday for the series versus the Saguaros.
