United Way of Chaves County announced that the Dolly Parton Imagination Library is now available for children from birth to preschool. United Way of Chaves County is excited to offer this program to the children in the community. It is 100% free. For more information, visit imaginationlibrary.com.

Holly-Day Magic Art and Craft Show

Artists and crafters, as well as other vendors, can now apply for the upcoming Holly-Day Magic Art and Craft Show that takes place Nov. 19, 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 20, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., inside the Eastern New Mexico State Fairgrounds Commercial Building. San Juan Fiesta

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 311 E. Hendricks St., invites the public to its annual San Juan Fiesta that takes place in the church parking lot. The entertainment includes door prizes, slides, mini dog races and fun for the entire family. On Saturday, the events take place from 5 to 10 p.m., food will be ready by 3 p.m. On Sunday, the fiesta continues from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., concluding with the raffle of a 2021 Toyota Camry. Tour de Ocho Millas Bicycle Ride/Race

The 11th Annual Tour de Ocho Millas Bicycle Ride/Race takes place at 8 a.m. at Bottomless Lakes State Park. This is a fundraiser for Reflections and Recovery Ministry, a facility that has a faith-based drug and alcohol recovery focus. Reflections and Recovery provides assistance and outreach in multiple ways to the community. The course is an 8-mile loop around Bottomless Lakes State Park. ‘Unnecessary Farce”

Roswell Community Little Theatre, 1717 S. Union Ave., presents the adult comedy “Unnecessary Farce,” directed by Gina Montague. (Parental guidance, 13 and up, is advised because of “naughty” content.) Chalk Art Showcase

The Roswell Museum and Art Center, 1011 N. Richardson Ave., is inviting the public to its Chalk Art Contest, which will be held outdoors, at the main entrance of the museum on south side of building. Competitors must sign up ahead of time and will have the morning of the 9th to work on and finish their drawings. A non-competitive, free draw area will be available for all ages, with Second Saturday teaching artists present to help budding artists with ideas and techniques. RSO Reignited!

The Roswell Symphony Orchestra and guest piano soloist Ariel Lanyi will perform Amadeus Mozart’s “Piano Concerto No. 21.” The RSO also will perform works by Beethoven and Haydn. The second annual Southeast New Mexico Step Up for Down Syndrome takes place at the Russ DeKay Soccer Complex. Registration is now open. “Bye Bye Birdie” — rescheduled

The second weekend performance of Roswell Community Little Theatre’s musical comedy “Bye Bye Birdie,” which had to be canceled, is rescheduled with performances on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. For more information, visit roswelltheatre.com.

Assurance Home golf tournament

The fourth annual Charity Golf Tournament, Adults & Youth Supporting Youth, to benefit the Assurance Home is accepting participants 13 years and up. The tournament will take place at the New Mexico Military Institute golf course. There will be donated prizes, a breakfast and a barbecue lunch. Fall Festival

The city of Roswell, including the Roswell Fire Department and Roswell Police Department, are having a fall festival at the Roswell Convention Center, from 4 to 8 p.m. The free event includes trunk or treating, carnival games, jolly jumpers, music and a creepy crawlers exhibit from Spring River Zoo. Kiwanis and RCLT benefit concert

Kiwanis of Roswell and the Roswell Community Little Theatre (RCLT) are partnering to host a concert with Swearingen & Kelli — the singer and songwriter duo AJ Swearingen and Jayne Kelli. The concert will feature music of Simon and Garfunkel. All profits will be split and go to Kiwanis of Roswell for its all-inclusive park and RCLT for a new roof. Roswell Galacticon and Roswell SciFi Film Fest

The Roswell Galacticon and Roswell SciFi Film Fest has a new date. The film side of the fest consists of juried short and full-length feature films in the science fiction and fantasy genre. The films will be shown online at RoswellFilmCon.com. The Roswell Galacticon side is a family-friendly science fiction, fantasy, gaming and cosplay event, which includes an educational emphasis toward children. This “comic con” style event takes place at Hotel Roswell Clarion Sally Port and features a vendor hall with a wide variety of goods for sale, interactive tabletop and role playing games, and celebrity guests. RMAC Second Saturday

The Roswell Museum and Art Center (RMAC), 1011 N. Richardson Ave., presents Recycled Art with Nancy Fleming! BYOJ (bring your own junk) and second Saturday will be ready with assembly tools such as tape, glue, wire and whatever else we can scrounge together. Holly-Day Magic Art and Craft Show

Nov. 20

ENMU-R Turkey Trot

Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell (ENMU-R) will host its Turkey Trot, a 5K fun run or walk, as well as the David Gonzalez Memorial 1 mile run or walk. These run/walks will benefit the Salvation Army and Friends of Roswell Animals. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. Entry fee is a can of non-perishable food, canned fruits, canned vegetables, soups, and/or a can/bag of dog or cat food: Pedigree Adult and Puppy Dog Food, Purina Kitten Chow, and Purina Cat Chow Complete are preferred. Registration begins at 7 a.m. in the ENMU-R Physical Education Center. The David Gonzalez Memorial 1 mile run/walk will start at 8 a.m. and the Turkey Trot 5K run/walk will start at 9 a.m. For additional information on these two runs, email shawn.powell@roswell.enmu.edu.
