Hagerman police are warning people to be cautious after three people attempted to rob someone in the Valley Thursday night.

According to a message posted on the Department’s Facebook page, Hagerman police Thursday night received a call after at least three adults attempted to rob a man on State Road 2 near Lake Arthur.

The suspects reportedly tried to carry out the robbery of the man when he stopped to help a woman lying on the ground near a silver Nissan Altima that appeared to have broken down.

“When the male subject attempted to assist the female, the other suspects came out and attempted to rob him,” the message states.

The robbery was unsuccessful and the man was able to escape and report the incident to police. However, the message states that when police arrived at the scene they were unable to find the suspects or the vehicle.
