Voting for the 2021 local elections will start Tuesday, when early voting will begin in Chaves County and absentee ballots will begin to be mailed.

The early voting location opening Tuesday is at the Chaves County Clerk’s Office, 1 St. Mary’s Place. The Roswell Mall location at 4501 N. Main St. opens Oct. 16. On Oct. 19, early voting will start at the Dexter Consolidated School District Central Office, 100 N. Lincoln Ave., and Hagerman JOY Center, 503 E. Argyle St.

This year, the elections involve several different municipal, school and conservation district elections. Voters will be able to participate only in those races involving the districts in which they live.

Municipal elections are occurring for mayoral, judge and council positions in Dexter, Hagerman and Lake Arthur.
