A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Ruby Hernandez, 82, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021, in Roswell, New Mexico. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Ruby’s family at www.andersonbethany.com.

Services: A Rosary for Ruby will be held at Assumption Catholic Church on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 1:30 PM, followed by a Mass at 2:00 PM. There will be a reception at the Assumption Parish Hall after the service.

On May 31, 1939, Ruby was born to Ben and Sophia Vigil in Roswell, New Mexico. She was the beloved wife of Jose Lupe Hernandez, whom she married in Roswell, New Mexico. Ruby was a member of Assumption Catholic Church. Prior to retirement, she worked for several years at, 3C Meat, Super Meat and Home Health caring for her mother and aunt. Among the precious memories of Ruby, she will be remembered for the love she had for baking, especially for her famous sugar cookies, which were always a favorite for anyone who had the privilege of tasting them. She loved going to Ruidosa to Casino “going West as she referred to it”. Ruby’s greatest passion was her family, and her greatest joy was spending time with all of them. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they were the light of her life, she adored them. Ruby was deeply loved and will be missed not only by her family, friends and loving pet Pico but by all those fortunate enough to have known her.

Survivors: Those left to cherish memories of Ruby are her beloved husband, Jose Lupe Hernandez; children: Tony Hernandez and spouse Maggie, Carmen Baros and spouse David, David Hernandez, Diane Chavez and spouse Alfred, Joe Hernandez and spouse Travina, and James Hernandez; grandchildren: Melanie Lopez, Bobby Cobos, Eric Cobos, Israel Hernandez, Kimberly Hernandez, Veronica Hernandez, Kennie Hernandez, Justin Hernandez, Joey Hernandez, Chris Chavez, Michael Chavez, Ashly Terry, Alexa Hernandez; great-grandchildren: Kylee, Zack, Isabel, Izaiah, Jazlene, Mia, Angel, Jordyn, Anyssa, Marissa, Camdian, Kassidy, Nathan, Kevin, Eligh, Uriah, Rylie, Joel, Joshua, Jaythan, Damian, Malia, Michael Jr, Oakley, Ayden, Austin, and Tyler; siblings: Ben Vigil Jr, Sylvia Salcido, and Juanita Quiroz; close friends: Isabel Garcia and Jimmie Turner; and loving pet, Pico.

Preceded: Ruby is preceded in death by her parents: Ben and Sofia Vigil; great granddaughter Aryssa Hernandez; siblings: Lucille Lueras, Mabel Rubio, Jimmy Vigil, Eddy Vigil, Richard Vigil, Lydia Dutchover, Dora Vigil, and Bobby Vigil.
