The Roswell Sertoma Club recently voted to donate $5,000 to help fund and support the upcoming bowling event held by Big Brothers/Big Sisters. The Chaves County Bowl for Kids’ Sake was not held in 2020 and was delayed this year because of the pandemic. It has now been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 30 and because of the date, this year it has been named Bowl-O-Ween 2021.

According to Big Brothers/Big Sisters, there are more than 3,000 children in Chaves County who are lacking a positive adult role model and these children need help. For over 20 years, the organization has provided caring adult mentors who are matched with vulnerable children making Big/Little matches. These have shown that after only 18 months, these children are twice as likely as their peers to get along better at home and in the community.

The annual bowing event is the organization’s primary fundraiser and at the same time provides fun and entertainment for sponsors.

Anyone wishing to join the club is welcome to attend one of its meetings at noon every Friday at the Roswell Sertoma Bingo Hall on 3rd Street.
