Samuel Reveles Cuevas Sr. passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. A rosary will be recited for Samuel Reveles Cuevas Sr., age 87, of Roswell, New Mexico, at 6:00 p.m., Monday, December 6, 2021 at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home.

The Resurrection Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 7, 2021 @ 9:00 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church, located at 2808 North Kentucky Avenue, Roswell, New Mexico with Fr. Jaroslaw Nowacki officiating. Burial will follow at Hagerman Cemetery, located at 7670—7696 Shoshoni Rd, Hagerman, New Mexico.

 

Visitation will be at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home, Monday, December 6, 2021 from 1:00 p.m.—6:00 p.m.

Samuel Reveles Cuevas Sr. was born March 21, 1934, in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico to Victorio Reveles and Josefa Cuevas. He was a lifelong resident of Southeastern New Mexico, dedicating his life to the agricultural industry. Entered the United States through the Bracero Program and gained his residency in 1961. Later, brought his family to join him in 1962, where they settled, and raised 13 children in Hagerman, New Mexico. He was the beloved husband of Josefina Vega, the love of his life, who he married on October 28, 1951 in Juarez, Mexico. He was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Hagerman for many years and attended Assumption Catholic Church. He loved hunting, gardening, and growing summer produce to share with his grandchildren. His grandchildren looked forward to grandpa’s cantaloupes, cucumbers, and watermelons every summer. In his younger years, he enjoyed boxing, dancing, and singing. Prior to retirement, Samuel Reveles Cuevas Sr., enjoyed working for Johnny Crook Farm for the last 25 years of his career. Special thank you, to Johnny Crook and Representative Candy Spence Ezzell that treated him as family. Samuel Reveles Cuevas Sr. was devoted to his family, hardworking, and an inspiration to his children. He took great pride in the success of his children, but his grandchildren were his pride and joy. His Sunday ritual, was delivering donuts and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his 13 children, 37 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren. His 5 son’s: Jose Reveles & wife Norma of San Antonio, Texas; Juan Reveles & wife Yonaira of New Johnsonville, Tennessee; Victor Reveles & wife Anna of San Antonio, Texas; Alfred Reveles & wife Stephanie of San Antonio, Texas; Samuel Reveles Jr. & wife Julia of Austin, Texas. His 8 daughters: Elvia Walker & husband Jewel of El Paso, Texas; Olga Holguin & husband Jose of Roswell, New Mexico; Rosa Morales & husband Luis of Reedsville, Wisconsin; Teresa Wright & husband Mitchell of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Susanna Reveles & husband Samuel of Odessa, Texas; Monica Duran & husband Manuel of Dexter, New Mexico; Cristina De La Cerda & husband Carlos of Roswell, New Mexico, and Shelly Lopez & husband Jesus of Roswell, New Mexico. His siblings Miguel Reveles; Ruben Reveles; David Reveles; and sisters Angelica Reveles; Teresa Reveles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Josefina Vega; his son Jesus Jose Reveles; his siblings Antonio Reveles; Jesus Reveles; Manuelillo Reyes; Manuel Reveles; Luisa Reveles; Cuca Reveles; and son-in-law Rodolfo Perez.

Pallbearers: Honored to serve as Pallbearers are his 5 son’s; Jose, Juan, Victor, Alfredo, and Samuel Jr. and grandson Jesus Carranza.

Honorary Pallbearers: Blessed to be chosen as Honorary Pallbearers are his grandson’s.
