The Broncos were crowned National Junior College Athletic Association Division I champions Dec. 17 after defeating Iowa Western in the title game played in Little Rock, Arkansas. In addition to the team accomplishment and other honors, Broncos head coach Kurt Taufa’asau was named Coach of the Year. Wednesday’s ceremony in Pearson Auditorium saw the team honored for its achievements and provided a showcase for the multiple trophies and other awards collected by the Broncos during their title run. Pictured here, Taufa’asau, surrounded by members of the team, hands the Broncos’ championship trophy to Maj. Gen. Jerry Grizzle, NMMI president and superintendent.
