A Roswell man has been charged with 10 misdemeanors in connection with an alleged Dec. 30 hit and run that police say involved at least two vehicles besides the car he was driving.
Bryan C. Determan, 47, pleaded not guilty to all charges during a Dec. 30 hearing before Judge K.C. Rogers in Chaves County Magistrate Court.
According to a police statement filed with the court, the Roswell Police Department was notified at about 12:31 a.m. on Dec. 30 about an alleged hit and run in the 2300 block of North Mesa Avenue.
Police were told by a witness who identified Determan by name that the defendant had turned onto North Mesa Avenue at a high rate of speed and hit one parked car and one unattended car. The second crash disabled the suspect vehicle and the driver then left the scene on foot.
Police went to Determan’s residence in the 2100 block of North Mesa Avenue and called for Determan to exit a bathroom. When he did not, officers entered the bathroom and found Determan with injuries. He was then taken to a local hospital.
Determan has been charged with six petty misdemeanors and four misdemeanors. The petty misdemeanors are two counts each of reckless driving, failure to give immediate notice of accidents and failure to stop upon striking an unattended vehicle. The misdemeanors are two counts each of leaving the scene of an accident and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.
Janise D. Andrews, 35, was charged with failure to pay fines on Jan. 1 at 12:59 a.m. in the 100 block of West 19th Street.
Carlos P. Archuleta, 47, was charged with failure to pay fines on Dec. 30 at 10:08 a.m. in the 400 block of South Washington Avenue.
Matthew G. Artiaga, 40, was charged with possession of prohibited controlled substances on Jan. 1 at 2:55 a.m. in the 3700 block of South Atkinson Avenue.
Julie Marie Chavez, 38, was charged with obstructing an officer on Dec. 31 at 11:42 p.m. in the 800 block of Redwood Street. Five minutes later, Raymundo Jose Chavez, 41, was charged with resisting, evading or obstructing an officer at the same location.
Adelita Garcia, 22, was charged with disorderly conduct at 1:56 a.m. on Dec. 30 in the 1000 block of North Plains Park Drive.
Kandice Marie Holloway, 30, was charged with driving while license suspended or revoked on Dec. 31 at 12:54 a.m. in the 610 block of West Hobbs Street.
Dalphina Ivy Lozano, 34, and Corine Roxann Molinar, 40, were both charged with failure to comply on Dec. 30 at 9:25 a.m. in the 3700 block of South Atkinson Avenue.
Javier Angel Madrid, 34, was charged with failure to appear and battery against a household member on Dec. 31 at 11:04 a.m. in the 1800 block of Cambridge Avenue.
Brandon Keith Martin, 37, was charged with shoplifting and criminal damage to property on Dec. 31 at 3:26 p.m. in the 4500 block of North Main Street. He also was detained due to warrants or holds by other law enforcement agencies.
Joseph Lee Munoz, 47, was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespass on Dec. 30 at 12:54 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Atkinson Avenue.
Jeremiah Edward Thompson, 44, was charged with shoplifting on Dec. 30 at 3:09 p.m. in the 4500 block of North Main Street.
Curtis W. Whitson, 31, was charged with failure to appear on Jan. 1 at 2:20 a.m. in the 100 block of East Second Street.
A window at a residence in the 420 block of West College Boulevard was reported broken on Dec. 30 at 12:08 a.m. The window was valued at $200.
The theft of a TV set valued at $448 was reported by a business in the 4500 block of N. Main Street on Dec. 30 at 3:09 p.m. The police report indicated the TV was recovered.
A robbery with a firearm was reported by a business in the 1100 block of S. Main St. on Dec. 30 at 3:48 p.m. According to the police report, nails valued at $10.99, consumable goods valued at $1.89 and a chocolate bar valued at 88 cents were stolen, but recovered.
A cellphone valued at $1,299 was reported stolen on Dec. 30 at 9:52 p.m. in the 500 block of West McGaffey Street.
A forced entry and burglary was reported by a business in the 1600 block of W. Second St. on Dec. 30 at 8:07 p.m. The police report indicated that an exterior door had been damaged and the items stolen would be determined following an inventory.
